When designing analogue watches the restricting factor to one’s imagination is always the clockwork. There is a limited set to choose from which haven’t changed in decades. The Ice watch is a thought experiment to make an analogue watch radically different in appearance, while keeping the concept feasible. The wristband is made from polycarbonate and the watch hands run in a recess inside the armband. After moulding the wristband, the recess is milled by a cutting disc trough the centre hole and then polished. Afterwards the clockwork and the clock-face are glued in place.
The time is set through an hidden crown at the back.
The recess for the watch hands is milled and polished by a cutting disc.
